How to Add IndexNow to HubSpot:
A Step-by-Step Guide

This guide walks you through adding IndexNow to your HubSpot portal using IndexNow Sync. The whole setup takes around 10 minutes and requires no code — just a few browser-based steps.

Install IndexNow Sync

What you'll need before you start

Before beginning the setup, make sure you have the following:

Why IndexNow Sync? HubSpot doesn't natively support IndexNow. IndexNow Sync is a dedicated HubSpot app that fills that gap — automatically submitting your pages, blog posts, and landing pages to Bing the moment they publish. Learn more about HubSpot and IndexNow.

Setup steps

1

Install IndexNow Sync on your HubSpot portal

Go to the IndexNow Sync install page and click Install on HubSpot. You'll be taken to HubSpot's OAuth authorisation screen.

Review the permissions requested — IndexNow Sync needs read access to your published content so it can detect new and updated pages — then click Connect app.

Once connected, you'll be redirected to the IndexNow Sync dashboard inside HubSpot. The app is installed but not yet active — you'll need to complete the key setup in the next steps.

2

Subscribe to activate the service

IndexNow Sync requires an active subscription to run. From the dashboard, click Subscribe and choose your plan — $15/month or $150/year.

Payment is handled by Stripe. Once complete, you'll be returned to the IndexNow Sync dashboard and the service will be ready to configure.

Note: There is no free trial. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings.
3

Generate your free IndexNow API key

The IndexNow API key is free and generated through Bing Webmaster Tools. To get one:

  • Go to bing.com/indexnow/getstarted
  • Sign in with a Microsoft account
  • Click Get started — Bing will generate a unique key for you
  • Copy the key — you'll need it in Step 5
  • Download the key file (a small text file named after your key, e.g. abc123.txt) — you'll upload this in Step 4
What is the key file? It proves to Bing that you own the domain you're submitting URLs for. It contains only your key value and must be accessible at the root of your domain.
4

Upload the key file to HubSpot File Manager

In HubSpot, go to Marketing → Files and Templates → Files (File Manager). Upload the key file you downloaded in Step 3.

Once uploaded, copy the file URL that HubSpot assigns it — it will look something like https://[your-hub-id].fs.hubspotusercontent.com/hub/[id]/hubfs/abc123.txt.

Now create a URL redirect so the key file is accessible at your domain root:

  • Go to Settings → Website → Domains & URLs → URL Redirects
  • Add a new redirect: from /abc123.txt → to the HubSpot file URL you copied
  • Set redirect type to 301 (permanent)
  • Save the redirect

Bing will use this to verify your domain when you submit your first URLs.

5

Add your API key to IndexNow Sync

Back in the IndexNow Sync dashboard inside HubSpot, go to Settings.

Paste your IndexNow API key into the key field and enter the exact filename of your key file (e.g. abc123.txt). Save your settings.

IndexNow Sync will now use this key for all URL submissions to Bing.

How to verify IndexNow is working

Once setup is complete, IndexNow Sync starts monitoring your HubSpot portal every few minutes for new and updated content. The easiest way to confirm it's working:

First time setup? Use the Bulk Submit tool in the IndexNow Sync dashboard to push all your existing published pages to Bing at once. This is available once per month and is a good way to catch up any pages published before you installed the app.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a developer to add IndexNow to HubSpot?

No. The entire setup is done through browser-based interfaces — HubSpot's app connect flow, Bing Webmaster Tools, HubSpot File Manager, and the IndexNow Sync settings page. No code required.

How long does it take to set up IndexNow on HubSpot?

Most users complete the setup in around 10 minutes. The steps are straightforward and the IndexNow Sync in-app guide walks you through each one.

What is the IndexNow key file?

The key file is a small text file that proves you own the site you're submitting URLs for. Bing requires it as part of the IndexNow verification process. You upload it to HubSpot File Manager and set up a redirect so it's accessible at the root of your domain — Step 4 above covers this in full.

Will IndexNow Sync submit pages I published before installing?

Yes. Once setup is complete, use the bulk submit tool inside the IndexNow Sync dashboard to push all your existing published pages to Bing at once.

How do I know IndexNow is working?

IndexNow Sync includes a dashboard inside HubSpot showing a 30-day submission chart and a log of recent submissions with Bing's response codes. A 200 or 202 response confirms successful submission.
